Magnificent madagascar

Today, in the morning, you will drive to Andasibe. It is the nearest National Parks from the capital city of Madagascar. The trip will take you to the rainforest in the east of Madagascar through beautiful landscapes including small villages, ricefields and granite rock formation.
Upon your arrival, lunch will be at the hotel. Then, you will visit the Lemur Island in the afternoon. It is a private park where you can see different species of lemurs such as the Diademed Sifaka, Common brown lemurs and some eastern grey bamboo lemurs. Before dinner, you will do an evening expedition to see some of the nocturnal wildlife which includes the Goodman’s mouse lemur, the smallest lemur. Eastern woolly lemurs and hairy-eared dwarf lemurs can also be spotted during the expedition. Some chameleons and tree frogs are part of things to be seen along the trails.

After breakfast, you will drive to Mantadia National Park for a forest expedition. This dense forest is the home of the Diademed Sifaka, the most colourful lemurs of Madagascar. During the expedition, while exploring the forest, you will have the opportunity to see more species of lemurs including the black and white ruffed lemurs, red-bellied lemurs, and some common brown lemurs.
This park is also a good spot to learn more about the different plant species mainly found in the rainforest, and, at the same time, you will enjoy the different calls of the endemic bird species such as the Blue coua, Nuthatch vanga, Madagascar cuckoo shrike, Nelicourvi weavers, …
Before the drive back to the hotel, you will have a packed lunch in the forest.
On the way back to the hotel, you will try to find more wildlife.

Today, in the morning, you will drive to the Analamazaotra National Park for a forest expedition. This forest is home to the Indri Indri, the largest living lemurs famous for the loud haunting calls. They are leaf eaters and very territorial. You will spend more time to look for the Indri indri, stay with them in their territory and enjoy seeing how they deal with their activities.
During the expedition, you will also try to find other species of lemurs including the eastern grey bamboo lemurs and some common brown lemurs. Then, you will walk to the Green Lake for a great view over the rainforest and for birdwatching.
Drive back to the hotel for lunch.
You will start the drive back to Antananarivo after lunch.

Drive to Antsirabe after breakfast. It is the industrial capital of Madagascar and it is a volcanic area too. On the way, you will see villages typical to the highland of Madagascar with a landscape dominated with hills and ricefields. The first stop is in Ambatolampy, one of the largest towns on to way to Antsirabe, where you see aluminium foundries making things from the recycled aluminium. Then, you will continue the trip through vegetable fields and vegetable markets.
Check-in at the hotel upon arrival and lunch will be at one of the restaurants in Antsirabe.
In the afternoon, you will be taken to local workshops where people are making decorations from recycled tins, embroideries and souvenirs from the zebu horns.

Today, you will have a long drive through the highland of Madagascar to Ranomafana National Park. This park is located in the southeast of Madagascar and created because of the re-discovery of the Golden bamboo lemur which was thought to be extinct. It is a rainforest that is rich not only in fauna but also in flora, and it is also the main village of the Tanala people, one of the ethnic groups in Madagascar.
Lunch will be at one of the local restaurant in Ambositra, a Betsileo town famous for woodcarving.
Arrival in Ranomafana National Park late in the afternoon.

In the morning, after breakfast, you will do a forest expedition in Ranomafana National Park. The highlight of the forest expedition is to see the bamboo lemurs including the golden bamboo lemurs and the broad nosed bamboo lemurs. Both of them are highly endangered. The up and down trails in the park will also take you to the Milne-Edward’s Sifaka territory. It is another species of lemurs that is only found in Ranomafana National Park. And, along some of the trails in the park, you will see the Namorona river and some waterfall. Then, once you reach the viewpoint, you will have a wonderful view over the forest.
After the expedition, you will head back to the hotel for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will be taken to one of the typical Tanala village to learn more about the Tanala people and the way how they are living.
Evening expedition before dinner to see the brown mouse lemurs, chameleons and frogs.

Start the drive to Isalo National Park after breakfast. It is a sandstone rock formation where you will learn a lot about the geology of Madagascar and it is also rich in wildlife. On the way, there more hills covered with granite rocks. You will drive through Fianarantsoa, the second largest city in Madagascar and the capital of the Betsileo people. Then, you wil keep on driving until the Anja Park. It is a community run park where you will do a forest expedition to see the ring-tailed lemurs, a species of lemur endemic to the south of Madagascar.
Lunch will be at one of the local restaurant on the way.
After the Anja Park expedition, you will continue to Isalo National Park.

Drive to Isalo National Park after breakfast. You will walk to the dry deciduous forest for a wildlife expedition to see lemurs such as the Verreaux’s Sifaka, a lemur that is famous for moving sideways, ring-tailed lemurs which are only found in the south of Madagascar and the red-fronted brown lemurs. Sometimes when walking around, you may find snakes including the Madagascar ground boa and the Mahafaly sand snake. The forest is also a good spot for birdwatching where the hook-billed vanga and the Madagascar green sunbird are often seen along the trails.
After the forest expedition, you will continue to the Canyons which lead to the waterfall and to the Blue and Black Pools.

Head back to the hotel after lunch. Then you will have a short break until the time to set off the trip to the Stone Window for sunset.

This morning, you will have an early start for the trip back to Toliara. On the way, you will stop at the Zombitse National Park. It is among the last remaining forest in the southern part of Madagascar. The expedition in the Zombitse National Park is opportunity to see more of the Verreaux’s Sifaka and to find the elusive nocturnal species of lemur called the Hubbard’s sportive lemur hiding themselves in the tree hollows. Some baobab trees are also growing the national park.
You will continue the drive to Toliara after the expedition.
In the afternoon, you explore Toliara on foot to see mainly the local market.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the local Port in Toliara for the trip to Anakao. It is a beach resort and a fishing village where you discover the daily activities and the life styles of the Vezo people.
Check-in upon arrival and rest of the day at leisure.

Morning excursion to Nosy Ve after breakfast. It is an island where you can see the red-tailed tropicbirds nesting under trees and it is also a good spot for the crab plovers, Humblot’s heron and other seabird species especially when walking around. As it is part of the protected marine reserves in the south of Madagascar, you can swim and do some snorkelling as an ocean experience.
You will head back to the hotel after the excursion and have the rest of day at leisure on the beach.

– TOLIARA – ANTANANARIVO
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the local Port in Toliara for the transfer to the airport. Fly to Antananarivo.
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel.

Here we come to the last day of your trip to Madagascar. You will be transferred to the airport for the flight home.
