They have two different types of flowers which make them an interesting plant to discover.
Some species have long flower tubes such as the Adansonia rubristipa, found in the south and southwest of Madagascar, Adansonia madagascariensis (north and northwest), and the Adansonia za (south, southwest, and west of Madagascar).
Other species have short flower tubes including the Adansonia grandidieri, mainly found in the west of Madagascar, and this is the one that makes the Baobab Avenue worldly famous. There is also the Adansonia suerenzensis which only grow in the north of Madagascar.
Six species of Baobabs are endemic to Madagascar, and the one that is highly endangered, and becomes rare is the Adansonia perrieri, confined to a small area in the north of Madagascar.
Many of the local people have a respect for some of the huge baobab trees in the island as it is thought that a spirit is dwelling inside them.
When you are traveling to Madagascar, you will see baobab trees with names and stories including the Baobab Avenue, Sacred Baobabs, and the Baobab in love.
Thus, we recommend you to come and stand under the baobab trees, and you will notice how bid those trees are.
